Lesson Overview

Welcome to this two (2) week intense study on Grief Counseling in fulfilling the requirements for the Chaplaincy Program. As always, let the Holy Spirit guide you as you move forward in this ministry.

In this lesson issues are mentioned about grief that exist but seem to be avoided. Perhaps it's their sensitive nature, or we're ashamed that these situations or feelings exist. Not addressing them hinders the grieving process. Nothing in our life is hidden from God, for God knows our thoughts as well as what we are going to say before we say it. Nothing surprises him, and he wants us to grieve.

Welcome to the Basic Christian Counseling Course. We are excited that you have taken this step to continue your journey of what the Lord has ordained for you. During the first week of class, please review the course instructions carefully. The course material is included in the class, however, the actual teaching is on DVD that you should have received by now or will receive within the next few days. As always, God bless you on this continued journey in His service.

The instructions also include information regarding returning the exam material, please follow page 2 information regarding this class. However, because you are taking this course via H. Roscoe University, your exams will be uploaded for you prior to the exam date.

The purpose of this course is to give the student a working knowledge of temperament and how it affects every aspect of our lives. This course is provided to give insight and knowledge into the inner workings of man. The information provided within this course will provide the counselor with added confidence in his own ability to counsel. A theory is an assumption based upon certain evidence or observations, but lacking scientific proof. When a theory becomes generally accepted in the mind and firmly established, it then becomes a doctrine or principle.

The doctrines herein treated are dealt with from the standpoint of Biblical rather than Dogmatic theology. This is evident from the plan which is followed in the work, namely, to gather together all the Scripture passages dealing with the subject under consideration, and then seek to understand the meaning of these references by the study of the text itself as well as its context and parallel passages; and finally, from the selected proof-texts, formulate the doctrinal teaching, and place such results under appropriate headings.
